Sander Burger graduated in 2001 at the Dutch Film and Television Academy. He was nominated for the NPS Short! Prize with his short film Koen and made several other short films before he directed his first feature film in the Dutch Antilles, Panman, Rhythm of the Palms, about a musician who uses steel drum music to give an identity to the young people of the Caribbean.
In 2006 he directed his second feature film, Olivier Etc., working very closely together with his main actors, he produced it completely independently from the Dutch funding system.

In 2010 his feature film Hunting & Sons, a film about the other side of respectable Dutch society, premiered at the Rotterdam Film festival and got selected for the prestigious New Directors/New Films Festival in New York. Sander has also directed several commercial projects, including online campaigns for SIRE and Bavaria.
