Feature film ‘22 May‘, which was co-produced by Revolver and partially shot in Rotterdam, is selected for the Contemporary World Cinema of the Toronto International Film Festival, the program where they show ‘the best films from every corner of the world’. In ’22 May’, security guard fails to prevent a horrific explosion in a shopping mall, then lives through the aftermath as a series of overlapping what-ifs. ’22 May’ will premiere on 13 September 2010
’22 May’ was produced by Epidemic in Belgium in co-production with IJswater Films,The Post Republic and ofcourse Revolver. In the Netherlands the film received financial support by the Dutch Film Fund and the Rotterdam Media Fund

22 Mei van Koen Mortier geselecteerd voor Toronto International Film Festival
22 Mei, de nieuwste film van Koen Mortier is officieel geselecteerd voor het Toronto Internationaal Film Festival 2010. De film zal hier op 13 september in wereldpremière gaan.
Na de controversiële film Ex Drummer is dit de tweede lange speelfilm van het Vlaamse talent Mortier. Het festival, dat van 9 tot 19 september plaatsvindt, selecteerde 22 Mei voor het programma ‘Contemporary World Cinema’, waarin ‘de beste films uit elke hoek van de wereld’ getoond worden.
In 22 mei wordt het leven van Sam, een bewakingsagent in een winkelcentrum, door elkaar geschud wanneer een jongen met een rugzak zichzelf in het winkelcentrum tot ontploffing brengt.
Sam Louwyck (Any Way the Wind Blows, Ex Drummer, Lost Persons Area) speelt de hoofdrol. Bijrollen zijn voor Titus de Voogdt, Barbara Callewaert, Gunter Lamoot, Norman Baert en Jan Hammenecker.
22 Mei is een Belgische/Nederlandse/Duitse coproductie van Epidemic en Ryva in België, IJswater Films en Revolver in Nederland en The Postrepublic in Duitsland. De film komt tot stand met de steun van het Vlaams Audiovisueel Fonds (VAF), CFWB, Nederlands Fonds voor de Film, het Rotterdam Media Fonds, CANVAS en Tax Shelter België.
Distributeur Cinéart zal de film in 2011 in de Nederlandse filmtheaters uitbrengen.

Already posted it here and there, but for those who didnt see them yet, heres some photographs we took last week on the set of ‘22 May‘, the new film by Koen Mortier we are coproducing. Koen, ofcourse known for his radical film ‘Ex Drummer’ is now directing his second feature. ’22 May’ shows twenty minutes in the life of Sam, a colourless, dull man of about 40 who works as a security guard in a shopping mall and whos life gets completely disturbed when a young man carrying a backpack walks past Sam and seconds later an explosion destroys the whole mall. We are coproducing the film together with Epidemic and Ryva in Belgium and IJswater in the Netherlands. Its gonna rock!
