Rockband Arcade Fire just released an interactive music video (or its actually more a ‘project’), directed by Chris Milk, which combines video, animation and google maps. The video is accessible online and asks viewers to enter the address of their childhood home. Once the video begins to play, multiple windows appear, playing video and showing aerial views over the address selected.

Using Google’s browser Chrome (though it also plays in the latest version of Firefox), this video makes optimal use of HTML5, utilizing an array of advanced ideas including, choreographed windows, custom rendered maps, interactive flocking, real-time compositing, procedural drawing and 3d canvas rendering.

But besides the tech specs and the use the latest open web technologies, it is also just a beautifully crafted video that is very engaging and that will give you a unique personal experience and interpretation of the song . Watch it till the end!

Prachtig voorbeeld van interactive motion design, dat volgens mij heel goed laat zien hoe sterk online content kan werken als het interactief is. Zelf heb ik het hele nummer uitgekeken en met veel plezier gespeeld met de beelden!
