Yesterday our coproduction LOTUS came out in Dutch cinemas. Lotus is a mosaic film about loneliness and the impossibility to communicate. The story takes place in a day and a half in Rotterdam. Its the debut of director Pascale Simons and we’re superproud to be part of this beautiful film! Hope many people will see it in cinemas coming weeks!

He already directed a great short documentary and will be mainly working on a new transmedia project we will be producing coming month. Dorito’s just released a very cool campaign, The rise & fall of Esteban Ortega, The Dip Desperado. Meet Esteban Ortega, the local champion with throwing chips. The campaign includes the movie, twitter and a game (that can be played on Facebook, Iphone or Android).
The video is very well made, very imaginative and funny story and very well casted. A perfect example of a brand using entertaining content to connect with their customers. Point of criticism: dont like the ending. The packshot drags me out of the story and moreover, theres no resolution or climax. I would have made it a short film all the way to the end and just end with a link to the game. The game is a stand-alone piece and does not link to the story of the movie, at least not in a sense that it picks up where the story ends.

Bumped into this very nice concept, a 3D holographic fashion show for designer Stefan Eckert. Although holograms have been used in the past, they have often been used alongside real-life models or have been projected onto screens. Stefan Eckert’s show seems to bring it to a whole new level. Although it shows the popularity of three-dimensional productions, it also shows that people are looking for new and exciting ways to be entertained. Fashion shows are becoming more and more theatrical with every passing year and the use of visual content is getting more and more compelling, present and entertaining.
Heres a quote I found about the project as part of their Cannes Lions entry:
“I have always been bothered by the fact that a lot of spirit and inspiration within the design process gets lost because only the girl and her accessories remain as protected areas”. These are the words of Stefan Eckert. The good connections between Stefan Eckert and Florian Sigl lead to the idea to find a so far unique method to present his current collection. Close relations to Musion – London (inventor of special holographic foil) amplified the idea to create the very first fashion show based on 3D holographic technique worldwide. The challenge was to find a symbiosis between collection and technique. Within 2 days a concept was created and filmed at Cinegate Studios Hamburg. Director Florian Sigl and designer Stefan Eckert produced one of the largest holographic projections on a special foil of 12m by 9m. The strategy to combine new unseen technique and concept seeks to underline the spirit of Stefan Eckert’s new collection. About 850 people from press, friends and clients became witness of the worldwide first holographic fashion show at Kampnagel / Hamburg on March 31st, 2011.
