Vrijdag 27 maart gaat de documentaire CRIPS Strapped ‘n Strong van Joost van der Valk en Mags Gavan in première tijdens het International Film Festival Breda.

CRIPS Strapped ‘n Strong is een documentaire over het gewelddadige leven van een Haagse gang, de Crips. Een groep Antillianen en Surinamers die zich bezighoudt met gewapende overvallen, drugshandel en gangsta rap. De film brengt op vrijwel ongecensureerde wijze een cultuur van geweld in beeld en weet bovendien door te dringen tot de gedachten en gevoelens die achter de gezichten van de gangster schuilgaan.

CRIPS Strapped ‘n Strong is een productie van Pieter van Huystee Film, Revolver en BNN.

Our documentary CRIPS Strapped’n’Strong will premiere on Friday 27 March at the International Film Festival Breda. CRIPS Strapped’n’Strong is a documentary about the violent life of a Dutch gang in The Hague, The Crips. Formed to emulate their LA examples, they make a living using armed robbery and drug criume while seeking solace making rap music. The film shows their culture of violence, brotherhood and loyalty, but at the same time it reveals their desires and battle to beat the crime with rhythm.

The film was directed by Joost van der Valk, who previously made the documentary Haagse Sjonnie. CRIPS Strapped’n’Strong was produced with Pieter van Huystee Film and will be released by Cinema Delicatessen and broadcast by the DutchTV station BNN.
